The majority of properties in Bassingbourn and Kneesworth were built before 1985 and so almost certainly have levels of insulation that are a long way short of modern building standards. Improving the insulation in these homes can significantly reduce their energy consumption, save money and reduce their carbon footprint.
The Energy Event was designed to be an opportunity for local people to learn about and to discuss the main options for improving home insulation and to give them some idea of potential costs and savings. The discussion was structured around this presentation.
Future energy events will cover topics such as solar panels and heat pumps, but it is vital to ensure that energy waste is minimised before addressing how the energy is generated.
