National Nest Box Week, organised by the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO), takes place every year from 14th-21st February. The aim is to encourage people to help birds by putting up nest boxes. Our modern environment has a shortage of natural nest sites.
Two nest boxes have been put up in the Churchyard. These boxes should be attractive to blue tits, great tits and house sparrows. The latter species are on the Red List for conservation concern. We’ll be keeping an eye on these boxes to see who chooses to make a home in them. Check back here for updates.
We have ordered specialist nest boxes for swifts that we hope to install in March. If you are interested in installing one please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
