In the Old School Community Centre and yard for the first time, there was a continual stream of people making their way to the Repair Café with items needing mending. It was a lovely atmosphere with cakes and refreshments to keep us going throughout the afternoon.
It was also a very successful event, and 79% of the items brought in were mended. Seven volunteer repairers worked on 41 items: table lamps, DAB radios, a bread maker, coffee machine, toaster, carpet cleaner, shredder, fan heater, Vent-Axia, garden shears, lawnmower, clock, wrist watch, shoes, jacket, dress, trousers, zippers, sewing machine, slide projector, digital recorder and even a candelabra.
And the comments were lovely:
- Excellent and fun
- Very impressed
- Friendly and professional
- Very positive, kept informed at all times, a team effort
- Super, very prompt and kind
- Absolutely delighted at the prospect of my clock working again – and also enjoyed the delicious cake.
For progress on a repair that is being completed after the event, contact Cafe Triage on repair.cafe.zcc@gmail.com.
And the best news is that we will be able to continue with the next Repair Café on the afternoon of Sunday 5 March 2023, due to the generous donations made on the day that allow us to cover the running costs.
